Our department ethos
We are an enthusiastic department devoted to making history and RE exciting and worthwhile. It is common practice to use a 3-part lesson structure and Thinking Skills based activities. However, we also feel it is acceptable to vary the structure of lessons. It is our policy to try and meet the preferred learning styles of all students and we recognise that varied and imaginative strategies are the way to achieve this. Strategies currently used include, amongst other things, role-plays, debates, problem-solving group work, history investigations, essays, use of assessed books and notebooks, source analysis and character analysis. All classrooms have tablet pcs and projectors and these play an important part in the planning of interactive ICT based lessons and resource materials.
