Thank you for taking the time to read our Sixth Form prospectus. If you are interested in continuing your education at Southam College Sixth Form, we would be delighted to hear from you. We believe Southam College Sixth Form offers an outstanding post-16 experience so look forward to prospective students joining us. We welcome applications from our current year 11 students but also external applicants from other schools.

Students who wish to be considered for the Sixth Form should indicate their choice of preferred subjects on the application form. One of the strengths of our Sixth Form application process is that we do not finalise the timetable or course blocking until all students have decided their course choices at interview. This allows us to accommodate as many individual choices as possible.

Whilst we will do our very best, it might not always be possible to meet the individual demands of each student. If, for example, the combination of subjects is very unusual or only one student has opted for a particular course then there could be difficulties. If a student subsequently changes their mind, or their GCSE results are not as expected, then students may be able to change their courses on GCSE results day but this will have to be within the constraints of the timetable at this time. Courses are also subject to sufficient numbers to be able to run. All offers are conditional upon students achieving our entry criteria requirements:

At least five GCSEs at grade 4 or above, including English and Maths

Making post 16 course choices

Decisions about which courses to study as a sixth form student is critical to success. We do believe students being on the right courses from the start is important for positive student outcomes. Students should consider carefully and ensure the courses reflect their interests, passions and that they will enjoy the content and the way of working. Students will study a minimum of 3 courses to study for the duration of two years. A small minority of students decide on 4 courses in year 12 and then drop to 3 in year 13 (with a Head of Sixth Form discussion).

A huge thank you to all parents, carers and students who joined us for our Sixth Form Open Evening on Thursday 6th November. It was wonderful to welcome our current year 11 students and a new visitors to our school. The event had a fantastic atmosphere and we hope you enjoyed visiting the subject stalls, exploring your takeaway bags, and taking a tour with our prefects.
